2+ Ingredient Healthy Cookies

These 2+ ingredient healthy cookies are super easy and simply delicious with no added fat or sugar. You can now eat cookies guilt-free with this healthy swap!

Who doesn’t love cookies? I don’t know many people (if any) who don’t. My problem with cookies though is that I personally have little self control over consuming them. Once a fresh batch of cookies come out of the oven, they stand no chance. With all the added fat and sugar that your standard cookies contain, this was problematic to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying on tract with my health goals. But, since creating this super easy and healthy 2+ ingredient cookie recipe, I can now enjoy cookies every day without feeling bad about it. And, since having these around all the time, I’ve actually learnt to prefer them to regular cookies.

Healthy Ingredient Swaps

A good cookie (in my opinion) has a carbohydrate base, a form of sweetness, a soft interior and loaded with chunks (whether it be dark chocolate, nuts, seeds or dried fruit). These 2+ ingredient healthy cookies hit the spot for all that! And, the best part is that they contain nourishing ingredients that will make you feel good after eating one or half a dozen if you wish to do so.

For the carbohydrate base, we’ll be using oats – you can either use quick oats or large flake, it doesn’t matter too much. According to Healthline.com, oats are believed to be one of the healthiest grains on earth, containing many important nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre, as well as providing many health benefits.

For texture and sweetness, banana’s provide an amazing swap to both butter and sugar. Bananas also contain many important nutrients like potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C, along with numerous phytonutrients that contribute to a healthy diet.

You could stop here and keep these cookies super easy with only 2 ingredients, or if you’d like extra flavour and a lovely crunch, I commonly add a mixture of dark chocolate chips, nuts and seeds, or even dried fruit and spices. The options here are endless with combining your favourite add ins to suit any preference.

2+ Ingredient Healthy Cookies

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Servings 12 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 medium very ripe bananas
  • 2 cups oats either quick oats or large flake

Optional

  • dash cinnamon
  • dark chocolate chips
  • nuts/seeds of choice peanuts, walnuts, cashews, slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, etc.
  • dried fruit raisins, cranberries, dates, etc.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 320 ℉.
  • In a medium bowl, mash bananas
  • Add oats and any other mix ins you'd like, mix well.
  • Scoop spoonfuls onto a baking tray and press down the top into a puck shape. The cookies will not rise, so the size you make them is what they will be. I recommend making them about 2 inches wide. This should make ~12 cookies.
  • Bake for 12 minutes, flip the cookies, and bake another 8 minutes. They should be slightly browned on the bottom.
  • Enjoy right out of the oven or cool off and store in the fridge for up to 1 week!
